Geocaching is a GPS-based game commonly played in the real world. It is like a digital scavenger hunt where people use GPS coordinates to look for small hidden boxes. Once found, the successful find is confirmed by logging your name into the logbook. Afterwards, the geocache is hidden again, so that the next person can also find it.
Geocaches on the mifServer are chests, more or less hidden at different locations in the world. All caches must be reachable without breaking blocks (e.g. not hidden below the ground). For each geocache, a location is given. Either a descriptive name (e.g., "Spawn") and/or coordinates. Coordinates may not be exact but caches should be within 10-20 blocks of the given coordinates. Inside each geocache chest, you will find three books, which must be put back into the cache!:
Everyone is invited to look for geocaches! Be sure that you read and understood all rules, especially that breaking blocks to get access to geocaches is strictly forbidden!
Inside each geocache, there is a logbook. Enter your name and date of find there.
Do not sign the book, so that others can also find it. Also write down the secret from
the secret token book and use it to confirm your find with the cache owner. The cache owner can then
tell Fabian, who in turn, will update this website to show your find.
Yes, this is a rather complicated approach (for now) but maybeeee I will implement some
interactive online logging solution at some point in the future (tm).
Confirm your find to the cache owner, using the secret token of the cache. The cache owner can then inform Fabian, who in turn, will update this website to show your find.
Everyone is invited to hide geocaches. Some rules apply:
GC followed by one or more letters. Your geocache IDs will then be prefix01, prefix02, and so on..GCID - secret) - Remember to write down your secret!GCID - logbook)GCID - Name of your cache)Currently, the following cache types exist:
